Upon completion of the trenching of the second stage of the crossing, the remaining section of the pipeline is installed. The pipeline is inserted into an open port of the AQUASHIELD; this port having a diameter larger than the pipeline itself The assistance of a diver may be required for this task as the pipeline and chamber are both submerged in water. The diver will then install a temporary packing between the pipeline and the port in the AQUASHIELD, creating a water seal between the inside and outside of the chamber and assisting with the pipe lineup. A mechanical method of providing lineup and sealing to the port may be devised, thus eliminating the need for a diver.
